Collagen Stimulators

How do collagen stimulators work?

Ideal for facial volume restoration, collagen stimulators work by regenerating collagen back into areas of fat loss in the face. When patients want a longer lasting or self-stimulating result, collagen stimulators are a gradual way of satisfying those needs. It is an excellent treatment for correcting hollow, gaunt, and sunken in areas.

Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid injectable that is very different from dermal fillers. Sculptra helps you gradually restore the natural collagen lost in your mid- and lower-face. Sculptra is best utilized in individuals who are in the 40-60 age range. It works by stimulating collagen growth, and while results are not immediate they can last longer than results from other fillers.

Upon completion after a series of injections (typically 3-4 sessions) every 6 weeks, results should last up to 2 years. After injection, it can take 45-90 days to see the full results. Maintenance injections are performed every 1-2 years.

Following each Sculptra injection you will need to perform post procedure massage, the rule of thumb is 5 minutes, five times day, for five days.

Lastly, like all injections, temporary swelling and bruising may occur, to help avoid this we recommend you start taking Arnica tablets a week or two prior to injection.

What is a Sculptra Treatment like?

Sculptra comes as a powder that is mixed with sterile water for injection, this needs to be done several days prior to treatment to ensure proper hydration and dispersion of the product. We also add lidocaine to the Sculptra mix before we use it making the treatment very comfortable. Immediately after your treatment, you will see a sneak peak of the end result, however what you are seeing is the sterile water that we use to mix the Sculptra into an injectable form. Your face then returns to baseline in 24-48 hours leaving behind strategically placed particles of Sculptra. You will not notice the results immediately, so it is not instant gratification like other dermal fillers. The mechanism of action of Sculptra is the production of your own collagen in response to the material, this process takes about 6 months, however, results can be seen sooner. Over the course of your treatments, you will notice gradual correction and a refreshed appearance.

The only dermal filler that stimulates collagen growth long term to help maintain your youthful appearance for up to 5 years.

It's composed of tiny, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres that are suspended within a base of smooth collagen gel. Once injected, the collagen gel immediately reduces the look of smile lines. Over time, your body uses the microspheres in Bellafill to create a “scaffold” onto which your own natural collagen can develop. This collagen forms a foundation that adds volume to wrinkles, reducing their appearance – and giving you natural-looking results that feel soft and smooth.

Bellafill is completed in series of treatments that are spaced out every 16 weeks. It can safely be injected into acne scars, nasolabial folds, cheeks, temples, and marionette regions.

Absorbable surgical suture composed of polydioxanone (PDO), which are used to perform cardiothoracic surgery (such as open-heart surgery). It’s one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body. Your skin fully absorbs it within 4 to 6 months & won’t leave you with any scar tissue.

PDO Lifting Threads

Provide a lift in two ways: an immediate lift occurs when specially designed threads are inserted into the skin and as the threads dissolve over the next few months, the body naturally produces collagen with results of the lift lasting up to two years. The results are a younger, relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed look. The lifting PDO threads require no surgery, very little discomfort and because it is a non-invasive procedure, there is little or no downtime.

PDO threads work best in the jawline and for a mild cheek lift. In some cases, PDO lifting threads are best accomplished along with dermal fillers, depending on the aesthetic results you are seeking.

PDO Smooth Threads

Used to smooth wrinkled, crepey skin by replacing and adding collagen and elastin to damaged areas to restore the healthy foundation to your skin. Popular areas include, forehead, glabellar, cheeks, lower face, radial lip lines and the neck.

What Can I Expect?

PDO thread procedure can generally be performed in less than an hour. The threads are very thin threads that are inserted into the targeted facial area where lifting and smoothing is desired. The threads attach to the inside of the skin and are gently lifted to smooth the face. This begins the first phase of the PDO lift which will achieve the initial results towards eliminating sagging areas and rejuvenate your face. As the threads dissolve and the body then produces new collagen, this will further lift and smooth the treatment area with a full result in about 3-4 months.

What is the Downtime?

Once the procedure is complete, you will be given personalized aftercare instructions so you can achieve optimal results. Downtime is usually limited to a day or two (but could be longer) and for many patients, there is no downtime. Most patients experience mild localized swelling and bruising which can be covered with make-up and resolve quickly. It is recommended you do not have PDO lifting thread procedure within 2 weeks of any major event due to potential for swelling and bruising.

How Long Do Results Last?

PDO threads can last up to 1 year but is entirely dependent on a patient’s age, metabolism, lifestyle and other factors. Due to the natural aging process, facial sagging will return over time. Periodic treatment can be performed to extend the results.

The SkinPen Precision microneedling system is the only Class II, FDA cleared device legally marketing in the U.S. The SkinPen microneedling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodeling of collagen and elastin.

There are three phases to the wound repair process:

Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.

Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is re-built with new granulation cells, as well as a temporary (type III) collagen and elastin, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

Phase III: Remodeling. The wound has been replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels. The type III collagen in the newly formed tissue is replaced with stronger type I collagen, which can contract to create a tightening or “shrink wrap” effect on the skin.

Why do microneedling?

Microneedling is a great treatment with minimal downtime to combat textured skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and acne scars. By improving collagen and skin elasticity in 3 - 6 treatments spaced every 4 - 6 weeks. Followed by a maintenance treatment every 3-6 months.

The PRP facelift is a procedure that involves withdrawing a patient's blood, processing it to isolate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and growth factors, then injecting it into areas of the face that will erase wrinkles and create a more youthful appearance.

PRP contains potent growth factors along with other rebuilding platelets that stimulate the healing of soft tissue. In the body, platelets are responsible for helping rebuild damaged tissue and increasing the circulation to add glow into the skin. Externally, studies have shown that platelets can stimulate your stem cells resulting in the growth of new healthy tissue providing an excellent foundation for your skin.

Applications for PRP Facelift:

Under-eye dark circles, thinning skin, fine lines and wrinkles along the lower face.

PRP facelift treatments can be completed every 4 weeks for a total of 3 times.

A maintenance treatment may be done once every 6-12 months.

PRP Facial

Using PRP topically with microneedling is called a PRP Facial. Microneedling creates tiny channels along the skin surface where then PRP is applied topically to the skin, allowing the full penetration of PRP deep down into the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin.

A PRP facial essentially uses your own blood to help promote the healthy activity of your skin cells. This application can be used for the face, neck, and decollete.

A PRP facial will improve skin texture and tone and can be used to soften acne scars, surgical scars, stretchmarks, and fine lines.

PRP Facial with microneedling treatments can be completed every 4 weeks for a total of 3 times. A maintenance treatment may be done once every 6-12 months.

PRP Hair Restoration

PRP for hair restoration is a procedure that involves withdrawing a patient's blood, processing it to isolate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and growth factors, then injecting these into the scalp.

Platelet rich plasma contains concentrated growth factors that stimulate growth and healing. Early signs of AGA (androgenetic alopecia) have the highest sucess rate. Since the platelets contain vital growth hormones, PRP injections are naturally a good fit for stimulating thinning hair follicles. The platelets are injected through the region that is thinning which supplies the nutrients it requires to continue growing thicker, fuller, and healthier hair strands.

PRP for hair restoration treatments are completed every 4 weeks for a total of 3 times. A maintenance treatment may be done once every 6-12 months.
