The difference between PRF and PRP is PRF involves a more delicate centrifuge process and yields more growth factors compared to PRP. When PRF is made into a gel (Ez Gel), the release of growth factors is up to 10 days vs. PRP which is 24 hours. This longer release of growth factors allows for a more noticeable change in tissue repair.

You can expect to start seeing results 3-4 weeks post-treatment, and full results will show in 4-6 months.

Since this treatment requires your blood to be drawn, it is important for you to drink plenty of water leading up to your appointment. 64 oz at minimum is recommended. Water intake should continue for the week following treatment. Prior to your appointment, we ask that you avoid any blood thinning medications and/or supplements for 3-5 days prior. Examples include aspirin, Advil (ibuprofen), Aleve (naproxen), fish oil, garlic, green tea, turmeric, ginger, and ginkgo. Avoiding alcoholic beverages for 24 hours prior may help decrease bruising. Taking arnica tablets for 3 days prior to your appointment may also be beneficial to help reduce bruising and swelling. Schedule PDO threads 2-3 weeks prior to any important upcoming event. Avoid all dental work 2 weeks prior and 2-3 weeks post-treatment.

Following treatment do not touch, press, rub, or manipulate the treated area(s) for at least 8 hours. Do not use any lotions, creams, or makeup for at least 6 hours post-treatment, and avoid all alcohol, caffeine, and cigarettes for 3 days before and after. Avoid vigorous exercise, sun, and heat exposure for the 3 days following treatment.

Your provider will customize a treatment plan specific to you and what makes sense for your desired aesthetic goals. However, typically, PRF ezGel treatment plans include 2 treatments spaced every 6 weeks apart with a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months.

You can expect to experience bruising, redness, itching, soreness, and swelling. This can last up to 3-10 days following treatment. Possible risks and complications are minimal to none. Since we are utilizing your own growth factors and not adding anything else, the risk is minimal to none. Based on your body’s ability to heal will determine how dramatic your result can be so the results can vary from patient to patient.
