Since the goal of Sculptra is to stimulate your own collagen, results can take up to 6 months to be noticed.

To maintain results, one vial per year is standard.

We ask that all patients avoid blood thinning medications and supplements for 2 weeks prior to treatment. This will help decrease the likelihood of bruising. Avoiding alcoholic beverages for 24 hours prior may also help decrease bruising. Taking Arnica tablets for 3 days prior may be beneficial in reducing bruising and swelling.

After treatment, you will need to follow the 5-5-5 rule. You must massage your face for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This is important to do as it prevents nodules and stimulates the collagen production.

Side effects post-treatment include discomfort, swelling, redness, bruising, and discoloration. There is also the risk of nodule formation, however, following the 5-5-5 rule will help mitigate this risk.

Those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have an allergy to lidocaine, multiple allergies, high sensitivity to medications, or are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, should not get Sculptra. Those with autoimmune disorders should consult with their physician before proceeding with treatment.
