All your lip filler questions, answered.
Natural appearing lip filler is one of the most requested aesthetic treatments at Trouve, but also one of the most misunderstood. Patients commonly arrive with a mix of excitement as well as uncertainty. As aesthetic injectors we often hear things like “I don’t want to look like a duck” and “I don’t want people to look at me at know I’ve had lip filler”. The good news is that modern lip filler techniques are meant to preserve your natural features, not change them. In this blog post, I will answer some of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to a lip filler treatment so that you can feel prepared, informed, and confident if you are considering this treatment.
Does lip filler hurt?
At Trouve, we have a few different techniques to help maximize patient comfort during their lip filler treatment. For pain control, we offer topical or injectable numbing. We also offer Pronox (laughing gas) which can help ease a patient's nerves and anxiety.
How long will it last?
In most patients, desired results can be achieved in 1-2 sessions with long lasting results. On average, patients will retreat their lips every 1-2 years to maintain the result.
How do you make my results look natural?
The goal of injectable lip filler is always to maintain a natural appearance. In order to do this, we perform a thorough consultation and examination prior to treatment. We listen to your goals and respect your natural anatomy- only placing an amount of filler that is appropriate for your lip tissue.
What if I don't like it?
Initially, it is anticipated that patients may feel worried about the appearance of their lips due to swelling and bruising. We encourage patients to give the treatment area time to heal. If someone is displeased with their lip filler result, we are able to remove the filler with an injectable enzyme.
What is the difference between lip filler and a lip flip?
Lip filler is injectable hyaluronic acid. Lip filler can help create a more hydrated appearance to the lip tissue, define the border of the lips, balance asymmetries, and add volume. A lip flip is when Botox is injected along the border of the top lip in order to prevent the top lip from curling under when the patient smiles. A lip flip can give the illusion of a larger top lip. Results from a lip flip typically last about 6-8 weeks.
